About Us
Windy Isles Farms is a breeding and boarding operation situated in Peotone, IL, about forty minutes south of Chicago on over 130 acres.
At the farm we specialize in breeding Connemara ponies.
Our goal is to breed ponies that are true to traditional type with good strong bone, that are athletic and have
the kind and gentle Connemara temperament.
The Prendergast Family has been breeding Connemara ponies in Ireland at their Cree Stud (Co. Clare) since 1961,
when Henry Prendergast bought his first Connemara stallion *Cree Silver Cloud (Carna Bobby x Poll).
According to Pat Lyne's book "Out of the Mist," *Cree Silver Cloud's full sister Passport (by Carna Bobby) went to France in foal
to Lambay Rebel at the time. There she bred 9 foals by Lambay Fireball. His other sister Poll 2nd (by Dun Aengus)
was sent to Sweden. Poll's Delight (by Clonjoy) was the dam of Poll's Story who was imported
to Holland and then later taken to France, carrying a foal to Atlantic Curragh - the foal later became
the popular sire Grichet Adel.
Henry Prendergast bred ponies his entire life, and the last stallion he stood was *Catamaran S828 (Murphy Rebel x Miss Charger by Clare Charger).
For ten years the Prendergast Family owned and stood the renowned stallion *Windy Day (Killyreagh Kim x Windy Joy by Clonjoy).
He has several ponies here in America that are sired by him or trace back to him.
